CLASS: Oct 13th: Hand built Mono-printed Moon dish, 90 Mins

In the UK we will be lucky enough to observe a super moon on Oct 17th 2024. It is known as a hunter's moon as it is particularly bright and long in the sky. Full moons are often associated with times of reflection, ritual & releasing energy and a great time to get creative, this class runs Oct 13th so a few days before, in prep for your full moon creativity. [If you're puzzled by the pictures, the first time I ran this class we even had an astronaut visit!]

🌙 This is a 90mins clay workshop held in my studio at Thamessside Studios, SE18, Oct 13th, to make a hand built dish with modeled and mono-printed decorative elements to celebrate the moon. We'll be a small group of no more than 6, using a mysterious black stoneware. We'll build our plate and then work into the surface with additional clay and slips (liquid clay) modeling & printing to create a rich textured moon-like surface. These will be fully fired and glazed and ready to collect four weeks later.

How it works:
🌛Book one session per person making, each person will make a dish using studio stoneware clay.

🌛 We'll start with a brief demonstration, then you'll be rolling your own clay and creating surfaces with a variety of techniques and tools. I'll have lots of source & images for inspiration.

🌛From observation children younger than 8 will need supervision & help from you alongside my tuition. With children book one session for you to work together on one dish or a full additional session where your child makes their own alongside yours with your help. We will be using clever wooden knives, great cutters for clay but not fingers. NB see note below on the work bench height.

🌛*NB*: We will be standing at benches 90cms high so if required email me before booking to ask about availability of seated space for you or your child, (it's easier to work stood but of course I understand if you need to sit), seated space is limited so must be pre-booked.

🌛Your work will be fired and glazed in my kiln.

🌛This is for adults or children, but note work bench height. It is an accessible activity in a calm and well ordered room. Ground floor, with toilet. I have plenty of teaching experience & am fully DBS certified. If you need to preserve special outfits do feel free to bring your own aprons / cover all.
