Mug, Royal Brass Foundry, Woolwich
£30.00
A large hand-built stoneware mug with my hand drawn image applied. Designed for holding cupped in two hands, whilst celebrating the magnificence of one of our local historic gems.
The Royal Brass Foundry was was built in 1717, probably by Sir John Vanbrugh. The structure was designed & purpose built around the vertical boring machine and the ease of transfer of cannons, cast here for government service until around 1870 and is described as a monument of outstanding importance' as a 'rare example of a large scale machine shop from the very early stages of the industrial revolution'.
