Studio class: stoneware planter using your stamps or botanicals, your timing

A two hour session for one or two held in my studio to learn a hand building technique using organic material for inspiration. Book a session for when it suits you.

Hand build a planter to house a 10cm pot, ideal for supermarket herbs, house plants or cat nip! Makes a lovely table decoration for a special event.

Using studio materials tools and techniques you will roll fresh stoneware studio grade clay and cut using templates. We'll get creative with stamps, botanical cuttings, and letters, I have sets & cuttings or bring your own. We'll then construct and join. You may like to add some modelling at this stage too. I'll have tools to help.

Ideal for adults or tall children (workbench is quite high)

Booking:
🏺 you can choose your own timing - pop me an email to check proposed dates or simply buy the session and I'll contact you.

Before you arrive:
🏺You may like to bring your own items to stamp with. Cuttings from your garden, brooches, lego, buttons, stamp sets all work well. Letters for biscuit making even? Look for a depth of a few mm depth and I will have a release agent on the day

On the day:
🏺 my studio is level access and with wash up, drinking water and toilets in the corridor right alongside.

🏺Introduction to Thamesside, the tools and the materials

🏺Demo of rolling & cutting to achieve even thickness and drying. How to join. How to best use the stamps with release agent.

🏺I'll assist you with your making, help you with your positioning of stamps and then guide the joining.

Glazing & firing:
🏺a slow dry will be managed to keep joins and construction strong. I will fire once then add a white glaze that works beautifully with this buff coloured clay and fire again to glaze temperature, creating your finished stoneware planter that will provide you with pride and pleasure for many years!
🏺you will collect your finished work from me [SE7] four weeks later.

I am fully DBS checked and experienced at working with all ages including children, also SEN students and adults. I am very happy to discuss particular requirements before the class so do contact me.

Cost includes the class, all materials including glaze and two firings.
There is good parking, helpful bus routes and a nice cafe at Thamesside.
