Small shorter anthracite jar, Blackheath Tea Hut
Small jar, will hold water. Hand built in smooth dark grey anthracite clay with white slip joining and inlay. Glazed in a soft white tin glaze which covers this clay beautifully. My drawing of local legendary landmark the Blackheath tea hut is applied by decal.
The Blackheath tea hut was first established on a handy stretch of Blackheath common in 1924. Providing 24 hour teas to all drivers there was a huge reaction of loss and sadness when it was flattened in January 2020 by a reckless driver.
STOP PRESS the tea hut lives again! There is a new hut on the old spot, Aug 21.
Approx 7.5cm high, 11cm slightly imperfectly round shaped base, rim is around 8cm wide. Ref 20-90-1
