WORKSHOP, Tile, Open studios, June 25th

Visit my studio (SE18 5NR) and many others at Thamesside Studios when we welcome you to open studios on 25th June. I will make space for two at a time to have a mini taster workshop making tiles with a simple but very satisfying technique. We will be using the scratching through liquid clay technique of sgraffito to create hand drawn designs on pre-made handmade 9.4cm sq tiles that can work as little pictures or coasters. These will be fully stoneware fired & glazed (I can even show you inside the kiln they will go in) and posted to you.

I will quickly introduce you to the tools, give you a scrap to practice on & then you'll get your design straight onto your tile, in layers using colored slips (liquid clay) and then line work drawn through to the black clay.

🏺*Price includes 45 min session, pre-made handbuilt stoneware tile, use of tools, my finishing work at first firing, glazing & a cork backing. Your work will be posted out around three weeks later*

🏺 *Please note that this session runs whilst there are visitors to my studio, & you will be working fairly independently with a sharp tool used at your own risk*

🏺Children are welcome but please note that my workbench is 90cm high, it may be tricky for under 8s, please consider before booking.
